So Molly and I went to a party from my old widow's support group. She had told me how a lot of the people there were preoccupied with the subject of death. I didn't think so until last night. They are! Most of the conversations were about their spouses that had passed away, realtives, friends, even pets. Talk about life is so much more uplifting. I guess it goes to show how much I've grown since those days. I'm much more about life and improving mine and others I know. I've become a member of a great church. I wouldn't say I'm a bible thumper but I am a believer. We try to help the disadvantaged through many avenues. Todays service included a plea for birthday party supplies for kids whose families couldn't afford it. That's just the latest idea someone in the church came up with. I'm so grateful to be a member of Community Christian Church.

Thank you Lord !

I wrote a bit about this incident on Facebook, but here goes. It was snowing pretty bad here on Saturday 11-26-09. we ended up getting about 11-12 inches. Anyway, Molly got home from work and was pulling into the garage when she decided she wanted to clean the car off. She didn't want the snow to melt inside the garage and leave puddles. So she thought her snow brush might be under the seat. She had the parking brake on and laid on the back seat with her feet on the ground, looking for the brush. I was standing in the garage with my slippers on. The car started sliding down our sloped driveway. I grabbed the mirror, a breakaway. The car slid into a snowbank I made from shoveling. I thought for sure she at least had a broken leg. Her legs were in the snowbank with the car door pushing on them. Thank God it was a soft, fluffy snow. If it were frozen, she would have broken something. She ended up being fine though I was shaken up till the next morning. I give all thanks and praise to God, for he surely was watching out for my love.

Life changes

Not a big thing in my life but something I'm not crazy about. I've been setting up and tearing down at church every Sunday this year. since Bill Carroll left for France, Carson has taken his place. Today was his last day. We didn't become close friends but I'm gonna miss him. It was an honor serving the Lord with him. The church lost another good man.

So here I am trying to become a new man. I've lost 14 lbs in the last month through the weight challenge at Alleluia Lutheran Church. Being a Christ Follower, I've become more calm and I hope compassionate. It used to drive me crazy driving to work. Now I ask for God to give me patience and it calms me. I always try to thank God for everything he does but I usually end up asking for his help. These days I ask him to give Jonathan an open mind. He's so anti-religion like I was before Monica passed away. He's a good man and I'm sure he'll find the way someday.
Seems like I've lost touch with Lisa. It hurts but I suppose she does have to form a life with her new husband. Donnie is there when I need him and he's always so busy with his family and friends. I guess Monica was the glue that held the family together. I still have lunch with Grandma every other week. I wish the kids would make time for her once in awhile. Who knows how much longer she'll be with us. She keeps saying how she looks forward to being with her daughter again. So sad but I understand.
Things couldn't be any better with Molly. We just got back from a mini-vacation today. It was great doing nothing with her. We walked along the pier in St Joe, did the main street. Visited a few shops. It was fun. We talked for most of the drive up there. I'm so lucky to have found her. I asked God to let me be lucky in love again and boy, did he ever come through.

Born Again

Last week I started listening to the song "Born Again" by Third Day. The words fit me to a "T". On Sunday I was sent to our Plainfield campus to take photos. While there I hear the run through of the service. The main focus was on forgiveness. Dave Ferguson gave the sermon. Through his words and tears in my eyes I had an awakening and forgave my late wife for indiscretions in her past. It had been eating away at me since I found out a week after her death.
I have since re-married and always felt like I wasn't giving my all to Molly. Now, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I finally feel at peace and my life has changed for the good.
I truly feel I have been born again.
