Ho-Hum, that's how I've been feeling for the past week. First it was Monica's b-day last week, woulda been her 56th. Then my cousin Nancy's husband Hans died on Monday. He had been battling cancer for the past year or so. For some reason the subject of death has been hard for me to handle lately.
Besides all that, life is pretty good. Molly's getting closer to retirement, I still have 10-12 years to go. In a couple of weeks we both will be credit card debt free, just the house and my car to pay off. Maybe another Mexican vacation in the future?
Seems like our small group is evolving again. The Herreras moved to Romeoville and will start going to that campus. We're thinking of going to the Montgomery campus. Not too happy with NNHS, their lack of a choir for the past year.
My photography seems like it may be looking up. Triple Threat mentoring says they've gotten positive comments on the photos. One of my photos is on their main webpage
Well, lots to do tomorrow, time to hit the sack !

Life is Good ! The only thing I can whine about is that we had to pay on our income taxes this year. We're all healthy, my son Donnie and his wife Nikki are expecting twins after ONE fertility treatment. My other son Jon and his wife Gina are coming in for a visit next week. If there is a something that's bothering me, it's that my daughter Lisa is so busy with her new husband Arturo and his family , she's kinda put our family to the side. Maybe it's symptom of growing older?
I've been getting more and more involved into church. Thanks to Bill Carroll. I was content to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. I mentioned to Bill that maybe I wanted to try something. He talked me into greeting. I did that most of last year. Last summer i got into setting up and tearing down the stage at Naperville North HS. Out of that and through word of mouth I've been volunteering as a photographer. In fact, last Sunday our pastor Brian put 2 pictures of Wentz Hall I took on the big screen. Pretty cool.
I've turned from a cynical introverted person into a feeling, hopefully more compassionate man through new friendships I made with 2 women battling cancer. One is a struggling mother of 3 and the other is the most mature 18 year old I've ever known. They sure have turned me into a praying fool ! I know one day soon they'll both be well, they know that Jesus and I are tight!
It' s been almost 2 1/2 years of marriage and I'm more in love with Molly today than the day we married. She's such a lady when she needs to be and in an instant she can become a burping funny Richie Daley speaking southsider. And at all times the most beautiful woman around. She lets me do what I want but she tells me when I'm being stupid too. she is the prefect wife. So this is what being blessed feels like!!

So Molly and I went to a party from my old widow's support group. She had told me how a lot of the people there were preoccupied with the subject of death. I didn't think so until last night. They are! Most of the conversations were about their spouses that had passed away, realtives, friends, even pets. Talk about life is so much more uplifting. I guess it goes to show how much I've grown since those days. I'm much more about life and improving mine and others I know. I've become a member of a great church. I wouldn't say I'm a bible thumper but I am a believer. We try to help the disadvantaged through many avenues. Todays service included a plea for birthday party supplies for kids whose families couldn't afford it. That's just the latest idea someone in the church came up with. I'm so grateful to be a member of Community Christian Church.

Thank you Lord !
I wrote a bit about this incident on Facebook, but here goes. It was snowing pretty bad here on Saturday 11-26-09. we ended up getting about 11-12 inches. Anyway, Molly got home from work and was pulling into the garage when she decided she wanted to clean the car off. She didn't want the snow to melt inside the garage and leave puddles. So she thought her snow brush might be under the seat. She had the parking brake on and laid on the back seat with her feet on the ground, looking for the brush. I was standing in the garage with my slippers on. The car started sliding down our sloped driveway. I grabbed the mirror, a breakaway. The car slid into a snowbank I made from shoveling. I thought for sure she at least had a broken leg. Her legs were in the snowbank with the car door pushing on them. Thank God it was a soft, fluffy snow. If it were frozen, she would have broken something. She ended up being fine though I was shaken up till the next morning. I give all thanks and praise to God, for he surely was watching out for my love.

Life changes
Not a big thing in my life but something I'm not crazy about. I've been setting up and tearing down at church every Sunday this year. since Bill Carroll left for France, Carson has taken his place. Today was his last day. We didn't become close friends but I'm gonna miss him. It was an honor serving the Lord with him. The church lost another good man.
